Section 92 of the Copyright Amendment Act assumes Guilt Upon Accusation and forces the termination of internet connections and websites without evidence, without a fair trial, and without punishment for any false accusations of copyright infringement. We should speak out against injustices like Guilt Upon Accusation being done in the name of artists and protecting creativity.

Mythkiwi is all about sharing ideas about open source software and (almost) never suggests to infringe any copyright laws or do anything else illegal, but for examples sake you did need a copy of windows for some reason, maybe just to remind yourself what a communist world would look like or what life would be like in Mt Eden Prison we do agree with your freedom to make the choice to download it over a P2P network. That is your right as a kiwi to make your own dam decision of how you act on the internet we don't need or want our friendly lawmakers in the beehive making those decisions for us.

If this law goes through they can pull mythkiwi.com (or any other NZ site) off the net simply under the suspicion of copyright infringement. You aren't even safe at home, they can block your precious broadband connection under suspicion that you grabbed an mp3 without paying. Way to go politicians, thats exactly what we want.

Since opening up the wiki for anyone to edit there has been alot of activity with edits/new pages created daily and the daily visits continue to rise for both NZ traffic and international.

Thanks to all those contributing to the wiki! You are helping make a great reference tool for others to use and are making MythTV an easier piece of software to build on.

TheMythKiwi ControlPanel has helped build many systems and the development is continuin, if you have any ideas of a feature that needs to be added let me know in the forum or add it to the wiki as a requested feature.

If anyone is using a Sky Blaster setup (or wants to get it setup) and wants to help develop and test the Sky Wizard let me know and we can finish off a very useful piece of software that will be able to compete with MySky (hopefully)

The wiki is now open for anyone to edit, you no longer need to sign in to edit pages. So have a dig through and share your knowledge with the rest of NZ and help grow the information collection.

I am running this as a trial to encourage community involvement. You are still encouraged to register so that your username is kept besides your edits rather than your ip address.

Sky Wizard Project

I have started to layout the [[Sky Wizard]] project. This is a step by step walkthrough which will guide you through the setup of adding an IR blaster to change channels on your Sky Decoder with a friendly and easy to follow GUI.

I haven't done an IR blaster setup for a long time so the info that I have might be a little rusty, if anyone out there has any good ideas about what needs to be done, head on over to the wiki (link is on the first line) and leave your 2 cents.

Wikis are for sharing information with the community. If you have done something you want to share with others in the form of a guide or just have some numbers or facts you want to add to an existing wiki page you are strongly encouraged to do so.

If you have never edited a wiki page before here are some simple pointers.

To start a new page

First you have to sign in to your MythKiwi account, if you don't have one open one here

Then you have to create a link to your new page. Lets say we are going to create a guide to Getting Hauppauge Nova-T running with Mythtv. So on the main wiki page under Guides click the EDIT button and add the text "Getting Hauppauge Nova-T running with Mythtv" with double square brackets around text you want to use as the page name.

After you have saved it your link will show up as RED which means it has no page associated to it. Click the link and it will take you to your new empty page.

If you make your headers like these a contents box will automatically be placed at the top

===Another Sub===
====even suber====

Double square brackets around text will link it to another wiki page but make sure you spell the page and caps correctly!

[[Adding Paul Kendalls Repository]] to enable [[Freeview Terrestrial]]

Single square brackets will link to a web page [http://mythkiwi.com] but if you add a name at the end it will use that name [http://mythkiwi.com MythKiwi]

As of January 2009 MythKiwi.com is getting about 50 visitors a day and about 400 page visits from those visitors so your wiki work will be used! If you have any wiki questions fire them through on the forum.

TVRage Script added to MythKiwi Bulk Meta Grabber

The TVRage script has been added to the MythKiwi Bulk Meta Grabber so if a video has the format SxxExx (The Simpsons S07E12.avi) it will automatically use the TVRage script instead of the IMDB one. It will also generate a poster using Mplayer.

New Local Host for MythKiwi.com

MythKiwi is now being run off a local host in New Zealand which will give faster access to pages and more flexible storage options.

Thanks to stroke64 for donating the server and helping with the transfer! Nice work.

Now we have unlimited storage space and download bandwidth which opens the door for storing the large iso files I have been working on which are a complete MythTV install all setup and ready to run with custom GUI interfaces for setting up to your hardware configuration. There will be 2 versions available soon, a lite and a duluxe edition. The lite will be available for download directly from the site and will fit nicely on a CD, it will be built off the Mythbuntu install CD so the XFCE desktop will be used. The Duluxe version will only be available on DVD for (cheap) purchase from the site, it will be a full DVD with preloaded sample music, videos (free ones) and lots of good programs to get you going.

There is still lots of work that needs to be done to the isos so if you feel like you want to give up some sunshine and help out give me a yell on the forum.

MythKiwi Control Panel V0.5 Released

Thanks for the feedback I caught some little bugs that found their way into V0.4 so they have all been washed out and some new features added.

New to V0.5

MySQL Login info will now be automatically grabbed for any distro
MythKiwi Bulk Metadata Grabber included
Lots of nasty little crawlers have been found and squished
Channel icons are now bundled and will be copied to the right folder

Keep the feedback coming in, its the only way to make the software better.

IMDB Bulk Updater Graphical User Interface

The first release of the MythKiwi Meta Grabber has been released and put in the downloads area under Movie IMBD Data collection tools

This release is just a GUI for the IMDB Bulk Updater script with a few extra features. It is easier to use for most rather than running the script via the console as it grabs the MySQL login details automatically, shows a list of the videos it will do the fetch for and options can easily be switched with tickboxes.

Some ideas for future releases

Incorporate the TVRage scripts for grabbing info for TV shows in you MythVideo folder
Auto Update Poster to highest resolution
