Description:

There are only a few different options for MythTV in NZ so why do we all go through the same battles getting it to work each time.  This control panel will take some of the work away and make life a little easier for you.

You still have to go into the backend to select your Capture Card and Input Connections.

Current features

  • Auto configure analogue channels and auto adding local channels such as CTV and Triangle(Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch only)
  • Auto setup XMLTV to add EPG data to the channels
  • Auto MySQL password and user info retrieval
  • Auto backup MySQL database to home folder before changing anything
  • Auto Satellite Freeview Setup
  • Option to select where to get EPG data from satellite or download for both types of card

The GUI is created using Glade and code in Python.  If you would like to help in development please contact the team on the message board.

The program is best run from the command line but has a full graphical user interface.  It needs to be run as root (sudo) if you want to auto configure XML data downloading as it needs to copy a file to /usr/bin folder which is only writable by root.

sudo python MythkiwiCP.py

Changes to V0.5

0.5 started as a bug fix for 0.4 but resulted in a complete rebuild of code.

  • Fixed a few bugs that came with V0.4
  • Automatically configures Video Cardinput source
  • No longer is restricted to Videocards at input id 1 and 2
  • Rebuilt GUI with more help and easier to follow
  • Flexible xml file download location
  • Bundled Bulk Meta Data Grabber
  • Now will automatically get MySQL login info for any distro
  • Will Create channel icon folder and copy bundled icons in to it
  • Can be run multiple times off same instance
  • Fixed channel number clash.  Card 2 channels always start from 101
  • Enabled (again) the option to download the larger more complete XML file for EPG data.  This holds data for all channels in NZ not just Freeview
  • Added Backup now and Restore MySQL database
  • Fixed channel clash if more than one digital card is present
  • Auto backup now saves as Date:HH:MM:SS instead of just time

Brad 2009-01-15 22:46:26 Great help with setting up my system. I haven't used MythTV for long but this made it easy to get Freeview up and going. Thanks!
