MythKiwi

MythKiwi is now being run off a local host in New Zealand which will give faster access to pages and more flexible storage options.

 Thanks to stroke64 for donating the server and helping with the transfer!  Nice work.

Now we have unlimited storage space and download bandwidth which opens the door for storing the large iso files I have been working on which are a complete MythTV install all setup and ready to run with custom GUI interfaces for setting up to your hardware configuration.  There will be 2 versions available soon, a lite and a duluxe edition.  The lite will be available for download directly from the site and will fit nicely on a CD, it will be built off the Mythbuntu install CD so the XFCE desktop will be used.  The Duluxe version will only be available on DVD for (cheap) purchase from the site, it will be a full DVD with preloaded sample music, videos (free ones) and lots of good programs to get you going.

There is still lots of work that needs to be done to the isos so if you feel like you want to give up some sunshine and help out give me a yell on the forum.

Thanks for the feedback I caught some little bugs that found their way into V0.4 so they have all been washed out and some new features added.

New to V0.5

• MySQL Login info will now be automatically grabbed for any distro
• MythKiwi Bulk Metadata Grabber included
• Lots of nasty little crawlers have been found and squished
• Channel icons are now bundled and will be copied to the right folder

The first release of the MythKiwi Meta Grabber has been released and put in the downloads area under Movie IMBD Data collection tools

This release is just a GUI for the IMDB Bulk Updater script with a few extra features.  It is easier to use for most rather than running the script via the console as it grabs the MySQL login details automatically, shows a list of the videos it will do the fetch for and options can easily be switched with tickboxes. 

Some ideas for future releases

• Incorporate the  TVRage scripts for grabbing info for TV shows in you MythVideo folder
• Auto Update Poster to highest resolution

Just before Christmas I sneaked in the last release for the year, this release saw a fix to the problem of only looking at the first 2 input cards.  This one was a tricky one to fix and required pretty much a complete rewrite of the code so there might be a few niggly bugs popping up again, let me know on the forum and I'll fix them up.  I also have a few buttons the options greyed out getting ready for future releases like the Sky Wizard and XMLTVNZ option. 

I dont have Sky so writing the Sky Wizard is a little tricky for me, if anyone wants to give it a go I have built the GUI (Glade) and basic code (Python) just ask on the forum and I'll send it to you for you to have a hack at.  Basicly its a step by step walkthough on getting your Sky IR working and channels setup.

This release of MythKiwi Control Panel will do the following,

• Detect and configure up to 3 input cards (Analogue or Satellite) 
• Setup either Freeview or Analogue channels(Only analogue for Auck, Ham, Well, CHCH -if you want your region added add your frequencies to the wiki)
• Setup your Electrionic ProgramGuide to automatically run and collect data
• EPG data can beshared over different sources.  Sat cards can share over air EPG data with Analogue channels and you can use downloaded data for sat cards

MythKiwi Control Panel V0.3 Released

New to this release,

• Complete Satellite Freeview Channel and input setup
• Automatic Analogue regional channel selection
• Automatic MySQL login info grabbing and testing
• Share EPG data between sources.  Use Satellite over air data for both sources, downloaded data for both or each use their own.
